Compressor
- the compressor is located near the engine and is driven by a belt connected to the engine’s crankshaft. The compressor is responsible for compressing the refrigerant gas and circulating it through the air conditioning system.
- An air compressor is a machine that intakes the ambient air through valves and it compresses it internally. There are two types of compressors that can be found in a Jeep: an air conditioning compressor and an onboard air compressor.
- The compressor connects to the engine power via a serpentine belt, which enables it to spin along with the engine pulley
- An onboard air compressor can also be used for other purposes. For example, it can be used to inflate tires after airing down to hit a trail or bumpy road, top off a tire if you get a leak somewhere along the way, clean dust off exterior parts of the Jeep before setting up camp, inflate air mattresses, inner tubes for the river, and more
